Hi Everyone, a great weekend of Joe shows around the country, good to see everyone at Towngate Theatre Basildon on Friday, Princes Theatre Clacton on Sea on Saturday and last but not least the world famous City Varieties Leeds last night.
The City Varieties is where it all began for Joseph Longthorne as a young performer in the late 60's on ITV's 'Junior Showtime' , he stole the show each week then,as a young lad of 14, and, as they say, the rest is history. Well, the legendary Mr Joe Longthorne MBE returned to the theatre last night for a sold out concert and in his own words during the show 'this is my house ' ! Writer and singer Chris Berry opened up proceedings and then it was 'JoeTime'... the audience roared and greeted Joe with endless cheers of joy and rapturous applause as he calmly walked on stage, yes Joe was back.....The theatre was tastefully dressed up with additional scenery for their production of 'The Good Old Days' and Joe seemed delighted and used the extra stage to full benefit. Stretch and the band launched into the opening song 'Where or When' with Joe welcoming everyone to the show and proceeding to wow and thrill the audience with a great setlist of Joe's own classics and new numbers including '3 Times A Lady' now fast becoming another firm favourite amongst the audiences each night, the velvet rich Longthorne vocal chords are in particular fine vintage form after his recent break from performing. All too soon after an hour and 20 it was time for Joe to say goodnight and bid farewell to a very warm and appreciative audience.
It is wonderful to see Joe returning to his customary and uniquely individually showmanship, one of the finest showmen in the business, there is truly nothing like a 'Joe Show' !! Joe, now amongst the longest serving and most successful entertainers ever from this fine and pleasant land is looking towards another birthday in May with over 50 years in show business as man and boy....Joe now has a few days to relax before the Easter Saturday show at The Grand Lancaster and Sunday's Afternoon Tea.
He will be off on his travels again in early April and beyond, all dates on the events tab.
The next date for the 'Meet and Greet' Afternoon Teas with Joe is Easter Sunday 27th March 2016.
